How it all started...
First Presbyterian Church grew up with the city of Kearney. We were organized in 1873. We met initially in the offices of the local newspaper. By 1877, we were building our first church building. From 1921 to 1996, the church was located downtown on the property used by FNBO at present.
Expanding the vision...
We've been a part of the last 150 years of Kearney, and we want to be a part of the next 150 years. We want to be a place where people experience God's wholeness in real, tangible ways. In good times and in tough times, we've been part of Kearney and have expressed God's Good News
Where we are headed...
In 1996, the church relocated to a new facility northwest of downtown. That was a major change for us, but currently we're in the middle of the next major transition. Today, we want to serve not only the community that gathers in our building, but the community distributed in homes throughout Kearney and Central Nebraska through our online presence.
