“My coming to faith did not start with a leap but rather a series of staggers from what seemed like one safe place to another. Like lily pads, round and green, these places summoned and then held me up while I grew. Each prepared me for the next leaf on which I would land, and in this way I moved across the swamp of doubt and fear.” These are the opening sentences in Traveling Mercies (09 E Lam) by Anne Lamott. What an eloquent way to describe her journey in faith!
Walking on Water (09 E L’En) by Madeleine L’Engle is included in The Wheaton Literary Series. In this book, L’Engle lets us into her life and shares, with honesty, humility, and humor, her reflections on art and faith. As she describes her life as a Christian and an artist, we may realize that we too are called, through grace, to be co-creators with God.
